Club History

Team Belfast was originally founded by Tom McCready in March 1998, who was then working for the City Gym YMCA. In fact, many of the original players were members of the YMCA Youth Club. The team gained their experience of basketball through YMCA News Release an American team who toured Europe giving basketball clinics. After a few warm up games the club entered a team into the league for the 1998/1999 season.

Tom has since left for the sunny shores of Australia and the team has moved from the YMCA to play in Saint Mary's Collage 191 Falls Road. Team Belfast continues to grow, and with the team in its sixth season has the largest squad to date. We are in Division 1 and are currently sponsored by MDS Pharma Services.
